In late 2001, Gomaco Trolley Company started reconditioning three Melbourne trolleys and constructing one replica Birney trolley for Memphis Avenue Transit Authority in Memphis, Tennessee. These trolleys will join the current fleet of six reconditioned Melbourne trolleys and one single-truck, semi-convertible enclosed trolley running the rails in Memphis.

Melbourne trolley #452 was completed and delivered to Memphis in early September 2003, Melbourne trolley #454 was completed and delivered in October 2003, and Melbourne trolley #455 was completed and delivered in November 2003. Replica Birney trolley #453 was completed and delivered to Memphis in early 2004.
